This product worked great as expected

5/5 TiniProducts (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Western Digital 120 GB Scorpio Blue 100 Mb/s 5400 RPM 8 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Notebook Hard Drive - WD1200BEVE (Personal Computers) On June 22nd, 2011 I ordered a Western Digital 120 GB Scorpio Blue 100 Mb/s 5400 RPM 8 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Notebook Hard Drive - WD1200BEVE for my laptop. At the time this was a really reasonable amount of laptop storage at a decent price. Western Digital has a long standing reputation of high quality and reliable HDD's. This product worked great as expected, and outlived the remaining time I owned the laptop. Having had hard disk drive issues and failures I would be quite hesitant to purchase any other brand. Our data is too valuable to trust with a generic.Seller: Amazon LLCCondition: NewPurchase price: $65.71 (Shipped) Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 10, 2017

    Does the job

I have an ancient 8 yo Gateway laptop that I'm still happy with. It was state of the art when I got it and still has advantages I prefer over the newer laptops and notebooks. I'm a big WordPerfect fan, and this older Gateway and the Windows loaded on it support WP and Quattro Pro. Unless something's changed lately, it seems WP does not make a version for Mac, my desktop. Also, every new version of WP seems to mimic Word more closely and Word is useless. So I prefer the older version of WP.Unfortunately, in spite of taking every precaution I can think of, sometimes a virus gets to the Gateway laptop. The first time, I took it to a computer repair shop that claims its geeks are super. NOT! Cost $200 and when I got it home, not only had they loaded all sorts of their own programs on it, the pop-up ad virus was still there! I replaced the hard drive with one bought at a big box store for half the price of the so-called repair. The replacement was 120 GB, but the... 4/5 Jolly Holly (Honolulu) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Either I'm dumb or setup is not easy

Got this to replace my HDD in my VAIO running XP. Also I bought from Amazon HDE's 2.5" USB 2.0 SATA Hard Drive HDD Case Enclosure. I expected to go to WD's site and download their free cloning software, Acronis. So I plugged the drive into the USB port, fired up Acronis, and Acronis said it couldn't see any WD drives and it gave up. Tried the HDD/USB combo in a W7 machine, same problem so I thought the drive was bad and Amazon shipped me a new one (very nice service BTW). Tried again... same problem. So what I did next, don't know if it was necessary, was to fire up GPARTED and put an NTFS partition on it. Then sure enough OS saw the drive. But the free Acronis still wouldn't work, so I saw suggestions for HDClone and this software was able to clone my drive. Well, sort of. Making the replacement into the VAIO, the VAIO proceeded to reboot itself randomly. I had to run CHKDSK and several errors were found, but that still didn't fix the boot problem. I redid... 4/5 bob stanek - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Runs great in my DESKtop

5/5 Sammy7 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Western Digital 120 GB Scorpio Blue SATA 3 Gb/s 5400 RPM 8 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Notebook Hard Drive - WD1200BEVT (Personal Computers) Got two of those babies. Put one in my desktop which has a SATA II cables, and this drives fits perfectly without any additional cable adapters, but you will need a drive craddle such as this one( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BH3Z8E/ref=ox_ya_os_product). My older 320GB PATA drive is now my data storage and this drive which runs snappy enough on Win 7 Home, is my boot drive. The 2nd drive went into my PS3 which doubled the space there, and the drive in the PS3 is now sitting in an external enclosure used for backups.Have had both drives for 5 months now,, and they run without a hitch. My storage needs are not dramatic, so these drives offer me just what I needed. loved the packaging they come in also. Well done WD on all fronts. does what it says

4/5 Dan (NY) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Western Digital 120 GB Scorpio Blue SATA 3 Gb/s 5400 RPM 8 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Notebook Hard Drive - WD1200BEVT (Personal Computers) got it for my PS3. previously a 40gb, I needed an update. Well after installing it cleanly it now has 97bg of free storage. lot better than before.WB is known for reliability so I'm hoping I won't have a problem.Packaging was IMPRESSIVE to say the least. Believe me, you won't have a problem on that department: Small box suspending the Hdd placed inside a larger box all cushioned. I've bought externals before and never saw this before. This review was made on the day the item arrived and installed.it's not a 5 star because: well where did 20gb go??? I know all drives do this but 20gb?Plus the PS3 keeps the OS on board so that's my only complain so far. It Died

1/5 JEFF DAVIS - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 120GB 2.5" SATA Hard Drive Western Digital WD1200BEVS (Electronics) It quit working 3 days after getting the drive and installing it in a laptop, it would not even recognize as a drive. I used WD utilities (in an external encasement) and it got to recognize the drive 1 time and gave a bad checksum on the boot sector and I was never able to get back to the drive again. Its only 35 dollars so it was not worth the hassle of returning and going through all of that. I know electronics can be that way so not disappointed. I can hear the disk read is loud and sounds unusual. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 2, 2013

5/5 JL Freckle - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 120GB 2.5" SATA Hard Drive Western Digital WD1200BEVS (Electronics) Geek Squad wanted $500 to replace and rebuild my crashed hard drive. This is an exact duplicate of the one replaced. Installed in 15 minutes, up and running 5 minutes later. Of course I had to do all the operating system install, layered product installs, and restore from backup myself, but hey. I'm retired. I saved $470 !!! 5/5 Ryan (VANCOUVER, WA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 120GB 2.5" SATA Hard Drive Western Digital WD1200BEVS (Electronics) For a light laptop user, this drive is perfect! My grandpa's laptop drive failed and I replaced it with this one.He had a bigger drive before, but I noticed he never used more than 60 gigs or so.He just does email and browsing, and a smaller drive will generally outperform a larger one as long as you don't fill it.He says it is quieter than the OEM drive and is a little faster than before.Western Digital is always a winner in my book.
