About this book
Encouraged by the response to the first edition and to keep pace with recent developments, Fundamentals of Electrical Drives, Second Edition incorporates greater details on semi-conductor controlled drives, includes coverage of permanent magnet AC motor drives and switched reluctance motor drives, and highlights new trends in drive technology. Contents were chosen to satisfy the changing needs of the industry and provide the appropriate coverage of modern and conventional drives. With the large number of examples, problems, and solutions provided, Fundamentals of Electrical Drives, Second Edition will continue to be a useful reference for practicing engineers and for those preparing for Engineering Service Examinations.

Epicyclic Drive Trains, Analysis, Synthesis, and Applications

Creator: Herbert W. Müller | Transportation - 1982

This book presents a clear and concise description of a multitude of revolving gear trains in terms common to all, whereas previous publications have been limited to treatment on interesting subproblems.

Publisher: Wayne State University Press

About this book
This first English-language edition is a completely revised and expanded version of Die Umlaufgetriebe, published by the Springer-Verlag in 1971. It will be extremely useful to American engineers since it stresses the efficiencies of new and existing transmission designs and provides concise guide rules as well as worksheets. A thorough understanding of the sometimes difficult material is facilitated through the use of both schematic and symbolic diagrams. The book is profusely illustrated and analyzes many applications. These drives receive an unusually clear treatment because at Dr. Müller’s discovery of their perfect analogy to the simple epicyclic drive trains.Unified methods of analysis and synthesis of complex drives are employed throughout, suggesting that further simplifications may be possible through the use of a multivalued logic system which is analogous to the bivalent logic system of digital electronics. This book presents a clear and concise description of a multitude of revolving gear trains in terms common to all, whereas previous publications have been limited to treatment on interesting subproblems. Its well-reasoned definitions and classifications will aid engineers in the selection and design of the best drives for any given application.

I have went to further add another one (a 5TB) to my arsenal as my data has grown over time. And yes, they do come in 5TB; I got it off a really really good deal that I simply could not pass up.So now I stack them 3 high and thinking about whether or not to put spacers between them for better ventilation. To maximize the heat sinking conductivity, I would use something metallic (like those mint boxes) to space between them. But the added height would mean there is a higher chance of toppling over.TIP: If you are using more than one of the same drives, I would advise you to label all the drives themselves, the USB data cables and the power cables such as "1" "2" and "3" with something as simple as a marker or some tape or color code the tape.I do now use a powered USB 3.0... 5/5 Dan Tech - Pro Photographer, Mac User, Tech Whiz (USA) - See all my reviews, April 13, 2015

    Very satisfied - quality product

I am very pleased with the quality of this hard drive. It was plug-n-play (for a Mac), just as advertised. I took it out of the box, plugged it in, and off we went. I had previously had a Seagate external hard drive which has lasted happily for many years, so originally I ordered another Seagate (3 TB). As soon as I took the new Seagate out of the box I could see it was cheaply made. The sheet metal case had sharp corners that would cut skin. I sent it back immediately. A friend of mine has a portable (1 TB) G-Tech drive, one of two we trade back and forth to store our date off-site at each other's h comes. I had been very impressed with the quality of my friend's little G-Tech drive, so I ordered my 4 TB G-Tech drive (which lives permanently in my house for backup). I had read online reviews which rated G-Tech drives highly. It has the look and feel of a quality product. I have not had it long enough to make any statements about how it will hold up over time. But it was one of the... 5/5 Kevin Roeckl - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) The fact that it has USB 3.0 combined with 7200RPM Hard Disk Drive inside such a portable design is Amazing!I have transferred/backed up a BUNCH of files/folders within literally minutes For example, I had a folder holding 120 Gigabytes worth of music/HD movies on my laptop which I transferred into this drive in almost exactly 15 minutes. That is downright amazing. I also transferred an 80Gb game to it just under 8 minutes.PROS:-Full Smooth Aluminum looking/feeling design.-Comes with USB 3.0 Cable-FAST Transfer rate speedsCONS:-Could not find a single flaw with this, however if I do come across something I will immediately update this review! This review is from: G-Technology G-DRIVE mobile USB Portable USB 3.0 Hard Drive 1TB (7200RPM) (0G02874) (Personal Computers) This hard drive is awesome! It is very fast and works perfectly for my MacBook Pro using Time Machine. I would highly recommend for anyone who has important documents, photos, videos, digital work, etc. on their MacBook. One thing, I would get the Drive Logic DL-64 Portable EVA Hard Drive case and NOT the Case Logic QHDC-101 that is recommended when you buy the hard drive. The Case Logic QHDC-101 case is TOO SMALL for this drive! However, the Drive Logic case I mentioned fits perfectly! I wish someone else would have mentioned this and I would not have wasted my time and money with the Case Logic case that is not returnable, by the way.
