Setup:External replacement drive for 2012 iMac 27" OSX 10.9.1 with standard 1tb drive, 32GB RAM, & quad core i5. I'm using it to boot in Raid 0.First let me go over the pros. I'm very pleased with the device, it has a great aesthetic and is so small you can fit it on a iMac shelf (search for iMac shelf on Amazon, there is more then one option) The device's speed is indeed as claimed. I used Blackmagicdesign to test the disk speed (app free through iTunes store). On my system it achieved ~480 write and ~697 MB/s read. The box states speeds up to 635MB/s without stating read/write I exceeded this in my simple test.I'm very pleased with the improvement to the user experience. The improvements are subtle but even when web surfing I notice the system response is appears a little snappier. My main reason for this purchase was to improve performance when editing multiple images in Aperture. With the stock configuration after editing about ten images... 4/5 Paul S. The Product is Awesome!

5/5 WizardHunt (Las Vegas, NV. USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt SATA III 1TB Solid State Drive with Cable (9000350) (Personal Computers) The product is smaller than I thought it would be, but in any case it is pretty nice. It is super fast, a tiny bit noisy but for a solid state drive that may be normal. I used it to make a Fusion Drive in my iMac. However Be warned that this has a Raid setup, with 2 drives linked together in a Raid 0 setup stripped. When I tried to restore from my time machine it would not allow me to do so with the raid setup. I had to by-pass the problem by breaking up the raid and using it as 2 separate 512 GB SSD's. It works great this way. A word to mention, I bought from Platinum Micro Inc from California and will not buy from them again due to their poor communication , they took too long to get back to me and They did not honor their word on shipping. The speed is amazing!

5/5 Frank - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt SATA III 1TB Solid State Drive with Cable (9000350) (Personal Computers) I currently have an internal SSD drive and this external drive is more than 3 times faster. I am using VMware Fusion to build virtual machines on this external drive and the performance is more than I expected. I am not crazy about the external power supply necessary, but the alternative is to get the Lacie 256 SSD that does not need an external power supply.
