About this book
Apple's iPad and iPad Mini tablets has been an incredible success and generated a lot of interest from photographers. Instead of hauling a laptop along on vacation or to a photo shoot, a photographer can bring the lightweight iPad and take advantage of its large screen, third-party software and online access. The iPad is great for reviewing photos on-site using something other than a camera's small LCD, editing photos, presenting a photographer's portfolio, and more. This fully updated 3rd edition of The iPad Book for Photographers includes full coverage of Adobe Lightroom mobile, your remote link to your full Lightroom library. Also new sections on using apps for cameras with built in Wi-Fi; transferring photos from an iPhone using iPhoto beaming; how to control the camera using the built-in Wi-Fi; and more. It also includes updated coverage for the new versions of iMove, iPhoto, Snapseed, Photogene, PhotoshopTouch, and other apps; as well as an thorough update to the popular Reference chapter. The iPad for Photographers will help novice, intermediate, and pro shooters to: Discover how to make adjustments that remain intact in Lightroom on your computer, including cropping and rotating, editing tone and color, applying presets and previous edits, and much more. Import photos from a camera or memory cards using the iPad Camera Connection Kit or Lightning Camera adapters. Transfer photos by wireless while you’re shooting, using Wi-Fi–enabled SD cards or adapters, or control the camera remotely with the CamRanger. Organize and rate images and assigning tags in the field, and integrating them later with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom on your computer. Edit photos with iPhoto, Adobe Photoshop Touch, and other image adjustment tools. Use portfolio software to create and deliver impressive iPad presentations for prospective clients. Share photos with others immediately via online photo sites, Apple TV, and more. Edit video clips in iMovie, create slideshows, and more. In this fully updated guide, photographers will learn even more clever uses for their iPad including backing up photos in the field, using the screen as a fill flash, calculating depth of field, tracking outdoor light conditions, and other handy at-your-fingertip resources to complement your particular shooting style. Sequential Writes/Reads Faster Than 2015 Model, Excellent Drive, New Case Design Not An Improvement

This model is the latest generation of the many My Passport drives I've owned or purchased for clients. They have proven reliable and good performers. They have incrementally improved with each new generation. This model features a new case design which most notably replaced the rounded corners with sharp 90 degree ones. Otherwise it should have little effect on use.BOTTOM LINE (for the impatient):The new model is a little bit faster than last year's and includes the 4TB model added to the previous generation My Passport Ultra early in 2016. This model (I got the 4TB size) is just noticeably faster than the 2015 model on sequential reads and but especially writes using Crystal DiskMark. This My Passport has a new design that replaces rounded corners with pointy ones and adds some odd (to me) styling to the case. The new case shows fingerprints and scratches much more than the old. It's a purely aesthetic change. Other than outward appearance it's... 5/5 Stephanie Sullivan (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews, October 14, 2016

WD just released the latest version of their Passport Portable External Hard Drives in 1TB, 2TB, 3TB, and 4TB.For the 3TB The old version was Model #WDBBKD0030BBK-NESN and this new version is Model # WDBYFT0030BBK-WESN.I researched if there are any differences, so here is what I came up with...Pros• High Capacity Available - Up to 4TB (The older model when released had up to 3TB capacity, up until a 6/28/16 release of a short lived 4TB model)• Testing suggests slightly faster data transfer rate• Now available in 6 colors.Same as Old Model Nothing Changed• Automatic local and cloud backup• Optional 256-bit AES hardware encryption• Comes in same 4 colors, they still offer black, blue, red and white (+ yellow and orange)• USB 3.0 connectivity• Formatted for Windows, reformatting required for Mac• Same operating temperature• USB 3.0 up to 5 Gb/s (max) / USB 2.0 compatible up to 480 Mb/s... 5/5 Harry Spalding (NY,USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: WD 3TB Black USB 3.0 My Passport Portable External Hard Drive (WDBYFT0030BBK-WESN) (Personal Computers) WD just released the latest version of their Passport Portable External Hard Drives in 1TB, 2TB, 3TB, and 4TB.For the 3TB The old version was Model #WDBBKD0030BBK-NESN and this new version is Model # WDBYFT0030BBK-WESN.I researched if there are any differences, so here is what I came up with...Pros• High Capacity Available - Up to 4TB (The older model when released had up to 3TB capacity, up until a 6/28/16 release of a short lived 4TB model)• Testing suggests slightly faster data transfer rate• Now available in 6 colors.Same as Old Model Nothing Changed• Automatic local and cloud backup• Optional 256-bit AES hardware encryption• Comes in same 4 colors, they still offer black, blue, red and white (+ yellow and orange)• USB 3.0 connectivity• Formatted for Windows, reformatting required for Mac• Same operating temperature• USB 3.0 up to 5 Gb/s (max) / USB 2.0 compatible up to 480 Mb/s... Modern Split Look with Vibrant colors !!

Look: I first thought that this hard drive is little big to carry but No, I was wrong. It looks like this but in actual it has same size as WD passport. Only difference is it has square shape while WD passport has round corners.Working: This WD Hard drive is pretty good in transfer data time. Similar as WD passport. It takes pretty decent time to transfer data like videos, photos, etc. Means not slow, this is exactly what it should be.Color: This is available in many colors. I ordered Red and this red is typical Red. Little kiddish color. If you want decent one only go with Black. As this hard disk colors are very vibrant, not decent.Quality: No doubt outer layer is not as good as WD passport. But not that bad also as Some reviewers mentioned that the outer layer has cheap plastic. I don’t think so. This is a hard drive, not a toy you would play with. And thus I did not find any issue with quality.Overall this is a 5* Hard Drive. Don’t... 5/5 Shan - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This model is the 2015 generation of the many My Passport drives I've owned or purchased for clients. They have proven reliable and good performers. They have incrementally improved with each new generation.BOTTOM LINE (for the impatient):The new model is a little bit faster than last year's and adds a 3TB and 4TB model. This My Passport Ultra has a more attractive satiny finish and there is now a white model to fit in better for Mac users. Otherwise it's almost identical to the older model. If these differences are not important for you, you may want to get this or depending on which is least expensive. WD 1TB Black My Passport Ultra - worked flawlessly

This is the first time I have ever used a portable (tiny) external hard drive. I currently use a Cavalry dual disk external drive in RAID configuration which is huge and not really portable. This new WD drive is fantastic in that it is quite small, doesn't require external power, and it is quite good looking. It is amazing how they fit 1 TB drive in such a small package. One bonus is that when I replace my computer in future with one that has USB 3.0 interface, this drive can handle that. (It works fine with USB 2.0 also.) The device looked and felt solid. The USB port that is on the drive seems to be proprietary, but it could be a standard port for USB 3.0. The cable that comes with the drive fits snugly and works... 5/5 Luis Bezanilla (Cape Coral Fl) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Excellent Drive for the Price and Physical Size

Great drive for the price, especially when you catch it on sale. Snagged my 3TB Silver Ultra Metal for $89.22. The only cons I can think of is the cable that comes with it is ridiculously short, around 12 to 14" tops and the top speeds could be higher but can't really knock it considering it is ~5800(can't remember exact RMP but it's close to 5800) RPM drive and not 7200 due to the physical size of the drive itself. With a new Z170 chipset motherboard and a USB 3.0 port it tops out at ~128-132 MegaBytes a second on sequential read and write. The 4K random speeds are horrible of course, just like any other mechanical drive but I will give it 4 stars since it is a very affordable and extremely tiny and light weight external drive.I put it through a 38 hour long read/write stress test over Christmas weekend and it came back with zero bad sectors or any other problems. I do this with all new HDD's/SSD's to make sure it isn't a lemon and I highly recommend everyone do... 4/5 Strat79 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Works with Mac

5/5 Hawkstv - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: WD 1TB Silver My Passport Ultra Metal Edition Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 - WDBTYH0010BSL-NESN (Personal Computers) I purchased this based upon the WD name for reliable, quality products. I use it with my Mac using OS X El Capitan 10.11.3. To use with Mac, open the disk utility and reformat it. You can partition it to one partition or several partitions based upon how you plan to use it. The external hard drive comes formatted to work with a PC out of the box.I don't have to travel with my external hard drive but it's lightweight and small should I need to do so.I keep it on my desk in a stand that I purchased for my iPhone 6 Plus. I connect it to my MacBook Air when needed. It's a great source to use to backup using Time Machine or to load music, photos, and other files that you don't need to store on your computer which will leave more space on your computer. If you're a Mac user and hesitant about purchasing this external hard drive, then don't be!! WD Passport stops working!!

2/5 Sam - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: WD 2TB Blue-Black My Passport Ultra Metal Edition Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 - WDBEZW0020BBA-NESN (Personal Computers) I purchased this in February 19th, 2015, as my previous 1 TB passport stopped working. I purchased a hard shell case as I would be storing important data and didn't want the drive the stop working as my previous one did. Every-time I used it, I would handle it with the utmost care as I felt my previous passport failed as I let it roll around in my knapsack. Three months later, when I was staring the drive up, it stopped working. I could hear and see the light functioning, but it was not opening up all the data I had stored on it. I tried multiple times over the next several weeks but no response from the drive. 70% of the items I had on this drive, I backed up to several USB drives, so I still have these files, the rest is gone. This is twice I purchased a WD Passport and it has failed, I will not be purchasing or recommending this product. Excellent Drive for the Price and Physical Size

Good drive, pretty similar to previous version, differences are mostly aesthetic

Don’t... 5/5 Shan - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
