About this book
Considering the rights of the child is now central to good multi-agency working, Children's Right in Practice offers an explanation of the theoretical issues and the key policy developments that have impacted practice. It helps the reader to understand children’s rights in relation to their role in working with children and young people. Looking at education, health, social care and welfare, it bridges the gap between policy and practice for children from birth to 19 years.Chapters cover the child’s right to play, youth justice and children’s rights, the voice of the child, ethical dilemmas in different contexts, involvement, participation and decision making, safeguarding and child protection, social justice and exclusion. This book helps the reader understand what constitutes good practice, while considering the advantages and tension of working across disciplines.

Beats the terrific Sandisk Extreme Pro and I expect amazing longevity from the V-NAND chips

I just wrote a long review of the Sandisk Extreme Pro 480GB, which I bought 2 of just before this model was released. I've now had two of these for about a week and I thought I'd compare them, because until these become available the Sandisks were what I was buying for performance.First, I haven't done a controlled performance test of these drives. However, if you check some of the good review sites (like anandtech dot com) and others, you'll find that the tested performance is almost identical. They are both very fine drives, and both have 10-yr warranties, which is a marketing issue, as you're unlikely to be using this in 10 years any way.At this point, I will continue to buy this one rather than the equivalent Sandisk Extreme Pro. First, it has more space as Samsung allows the entire 512GB to be used, whereas Sandisk only allows 480GB as they are reserving the difference for 'over-provisioning' whereby they have spare sectors to be used when (as happens with... 5/5 Frobisher (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Tremendously Improves Early 2011 Macbook Pro Performance

I typically do not offer reviews on anything I buy, nor do I do one so soon after purchase and installation. However, I wanted to write one just incase someone is contemplating buying this SDD. First off, I have spent the last week researching how to speed up my wife's ever aging Macbook Pro (Early 2011). I upgraded the memory from 4gb to 8gb first, which helped speed things up and also offered more memory for the video graphics - going up from 312 (I think) to 512mb. Next, I wanted to upgrade the HDD to a SDD because of what I read online and the upgrade in performance that an SDD offers over an HDD.Once I got home from work today, this was laying in front of my door and I figured that I would begin the process. This was the first time I have ever cloned and switched out a hard drive and it was a breeze - except for the time that it took to clone. For people that are unsure how to this this, I found the following gentlemen on youtube very help with a step by step... 5/5 RandyC - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Works with Samsung 950 pro

5/5 Dylan B. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: SilverStone Technology Dual M2 to PCI-E X4 and SATA 6G Adapter Card (ECM20) (Personal Computers) It just works... And that is all anyone really asks for in a product like this. If anyone is wondering, yes this adapter did work with my Samsung 950 pro PCIe SSD (and I'm almost positive it would work with the SM951). I recently purchased a Gigabyte X99 SLI motherboard and needed one of these to use the full bandwidth of the drive as the M.2 port on the motherboard is PCIe gen2x2. Therefore bandwidth is limited to 10gb/s on the motherboards M.2 slot rather than a possible 32gb/s that the Samsung 950 pro has. I attached the drive to the adapter, plugged it in and it booted into windows right out of the box. After doing some tests, I was hitting ~800MB/s read and write over the motherboards M.2 port. However with this adapter, I was getting ~2GB/s read and ~900MB/s write with the 256GB model of the 950 pro, much more speed than before. Works flawlessly! Blazing fast speeds with 960 evo!

5/5 Sidney Horne - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: SilverStone Technology SilverStone Technology M2 to M Key PCI-E X4 Card ECM21 (Personal Computers) I purchased the ECM 21 (m.2 pcie adapter) to use with the new Samsung 960 evo nvme ssd on my asus Z97-A motherboard, and It works perfectly! You must make sure that your mother board has the latest gen pci expansion slots if you want to use the faster nvme ssds (gen 3 I believe). My motherboard has a bunch of pci slots but only two of them are gen 3 so check your manual to find the right ones. The card was a bit tight and difficult to insert into the pci slot, not sure if that's the adapter or my motherboard, but just make sure it's lined up correctly before you push too hard. Need more internal USB 3.0 19pin headers? This is the card that you want.

I have no need for UASP so I just downloaded the latest drivers from the Silverstone Website. There is a second "Turbo" installer that seems to enable USAP and turbo mode which I couldn't get to work. It keeps saying that it couldn't detect my card. I am running windows 8.1 64bit.As far as the card itself, it does what it it is advertised to do. That is to add 2 internal 19pin usb 3.0 headers. I have an Antec 1200 computer case and I had previously been using 2 PCI Express 1x cards to add support for my case's 2 usb 3.0 front ports. I had no use for the rear usb 3.0 ports and this card lacks rear USB 3.0 ports so that isn't a problem for me. I was about to purchase a new TV tuner that uses PCI-E x1 so I had to downsize to 1 USB 3.0 card and this was the perfect choice.Make sure that you plug in the SATA power connector (use a molex to sata power adapter if you don't have a spare sata power connector) or this thing won't work.Note that... 5/5 Matthew Lane - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Excellent SSD drive. My tests confirm the benchmarks provided by manufacturer

I own a couple of SSD drives and always run the same tests on each new ssd so I can compare their performance. The ADATA has an excellent READ speed performance and fairly good WRITE speed performance. There are more expensive SSDs available that have write speeds that are about 15% faster than this one, however in real world use such small differences in write speeds have no impact on system performance.I tested the ADATA SP550 SSD on an Intel iCore 7 Haswell system running Fedora 23 with 32G of memory. The Adata SP550 SSD has read speeds that are limited only by the SATA 3 interface (excellent results). It has good but not industry leading write speeds. The manufacturer specifies read speeds of 530 Mbytes/second and write speeds of 480 MBytes/second which I confirmed using two bench marking tools, Gnome Disks and Sys_basher.I took three sets of measurements with Gnome Disks, a set with a 1 MByte sample size, a set with a 10 MByte sample size and a set with a... 5/5 Ali Julia (boston, mass) - See all my reviews, December 7, 2015

    SU800 in RAID-10 - 1,551 MB/s read and will they really last 228 years?

I've bought 16 of these recently for some test servers we have here. It looks like our setup is a bit different than most. We have small HP ML30 servers with 20GB memory, running Windows 2016 and SQL Server 2016 and we put four SU800-512GB on each server in a RAID-10 configuration. As you can see by the attached tests, we get average read speeds of 1551 MB/s from the latest Passmark tests. We use these to stress test our company's products (our company makes back office software) and we've been keeping them at 90%+ for weeks on end and they've been holding up well. We have had one failure, but I think it was because a drive was improperly seated in its IcyDock. We were attracted to these because of their TBW (total bytes written) spec of 400, but now I see that ADATA makes a SU900 model that has a rating of 800, so next time we get some, we may spend the extra few $ and get those instead. The 400 rating is about the best of any drive in its class... 5/5 rchutch - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
