    Working as intended for PS4.

I bought the 2TB version and it does work with the PS4 (current version 4.50). At first it said it didn't support it but after I restarted my PS4 it worked. Currently works as intended. There's 1.84TB usable after formatting. It took 19 minutes to transfer 3 games (118.3 GB) over from the internal hard drive to this external hard drive. Will update if anything arises.Edit: It had been a little over two months and its still working as intended. To answer a common question:It works out of the box. Literally just plug it into your ps4 go to devices under settings then USB storage devices. It should pop up under there, select it then it will say "Format as extended storage" and select that. The support for external hard drives is absolutely great. If you have a TON of downloadable games then you can simply just have multiple external hard drives and download all you games to them. Then you can just plug in the external hard drive with the game you want and you're... 5/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Good choice, but there are better alternatives. DETAILED info for Wii U, PS4, XBOX owners!!

I've often complained about Amazon rating system for tech products and external USB hard drives are great example of the problem. Simply, it's saturated market with lots of viable options, while impact of "picking wrong" is quite profound. You can wake up one day and find out that your data is gone. Reviews here don't help much: you read 1 star review saying "drive arrived dead", then you have 5 star review saying "drive is great". Which one to trust? Especially since I would prefer "dead on arrival" HDD to one that dies after 1 year of working. In my case - now that Nintendo Switch is coming - I wanted to download all digitally purchased games I have for Wii U and store them along with save games on one drive. Working, but beware of bad sectors; always keep backups!

I received this drive 8 months ago and it is still working in an acceptable manner by my standards. For more details, please continue reading.Having recently re-browsed the Amazon reviews for this product, I saw some people complaining that their drive had failed after x months having ordered it around the same time as me. This prompted me to fully check my drive's health so that I could at least be reassured that it is in full working order for the time being. I ran a read test on Windows using HD Tune Pro since that's where my drive was plugged in at the time, and the results (shown in as screenshots attached to this review) show the drive did in fact contain some bad sectors.I ran a non-destructive write test using badblocks on Linux which, for each sector, will first read the sector and store it in memory, then write a random pattern, then read this pattern back and make sure it matches the pattern that was written, and finally restore the original contents... 4/5 Milos Ivanovic (Auckland, New Zealand) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Died during backup after less than 2 hours.

I was pleased to initially get this backup HDD, it is small, portable, clean design, with a nice black color. It was packed in an easy to open and protective box and the basic instructions were simple and clear, plug the HDD into your computer with the accompanying cord and download the Seagate Dashboard application to begin backing up. I did just that, and initially seemed to be up to a great start. The Dashboard app isn't fancy, but appeared to be sufficient to get the job done. However, fast forward about 2 hours to ~80% backed up, and the HDD starts to occasionally beep. I was not aware the drive had any speakers so inititally I figured I had heard something outside my house. Gradually over the next 10 minutes the beeping became more and more frequent until it was obvious they were coming from the drive and were coming out about every second. I also noticed at this point the drive was no longer backing up. Thinking something was amiss, I unplugged the drive, restarted... 1/5 Amazon Addict (USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) "1.8 TB" actual, but expected.

**XBOX ONE OWNERS**This is a nice, compact drive that is lightweight, and can safely be "stacked" on top of a console or PC with no threat of crushing or leaving indents after long periods of sitting. It can easily become inconspicuous, and even in view it is not much of an eye sore. As a matter of fact, it's black coloring goes just fine - sitting on top of my XBox One(top left - DO NOT PLACE THE DRIVE ON THE TOP RIGHT OF THE CONSOLE WHERE THE VENTILATION IS).XBox One owners who have reached their storage limits would appreciate this. It IS practically "PLUG & PLAY". Practically, because you must not plug the drive usb into the console until you have FIRST powered up your console. I plugged - then powered up the first attempt, and the XBox didn't even sense it. Power up the console(give it time to load your home screen), plug in the HD's usb(I plugged it in the "rear" of the console), go to "Settings", then "Storage"... 5/5 Apparition - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Sequential Writes/Reads Faster Than 2015 Model, Excellent Drive, New Case Design Not An Improvement

This model is the latest generation of the many My Passport drives I've owned or purchased for clients. They have proven reliable and good performers. They have incrementally improved with each new generation. This model features a new case design which most notably replaced the rounded corners with sharp 90 degree ones. Otherwise it should have little effect on use.BOTTOM LINE (for the impatient):The new model is a little bit faster than last year's and includes the 4TB model added to the previous generation My Passport Ultra early in 2016. This model (I got the 4TB size) is just noticeably faster than the 2015 model on sequential reads and but especially writes using Crystal DiskMark. This My Passport has a new design that replaces rounded corners with pointy ones and adds some odd (to me) styling to the case. The new case shows fingerprints and scratches much more than the old. It's a purely aesthetic change. Other than outward appearance it's... 5/5 Stephanie Sullivan (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews, October 14, 2016

Modern Split Look with Vibrant colors !!

Look: I first thought that this hard drive is little big to carry but No, I was wrong. It looks like this but in actual it has same size as WD passport. Only difference is it has square shape while WD passport has round corners.Working: This WD Hard drive is pretty good in transfer data time. Similar as WD passport. It takes pretty decent time to transfer data like videos, photos, etc. Means not slow, this is exactly what it should be.Color: This is available in many colors. I ordered Red and this red is typical Red. Little kiddish color. If you want decent one only go with Black. As this hard disk colors are very vibrant, not decent.Quality: No doubt outer layer is not as good as WD passport. But not that bad also as Some reviewers mentioned that the outer layer has cheap plastic. I don’t think so. This is a hard drive, not a toy you would play with. And thus I did not find any issue with quality.Overall this is a 5* Hard Drive. Don’t... 5/5 Shan - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 4TB on my Xbox One

I bought this specifically to use it as an external storage option for my Xbox One, which was down to less than 10% available when they released the update that allowed external storage in early June 2014. If you are considering this drive as an external drive for your Xbox One system, I can assure you it handles the task quite nicely! When I plugged the drive into an available USB 3.0 slot on the back of the Xbox One, the Xbox One immediately recognized it as an external storage device, and asked if I would like to format the drive. Formatting was very straight forward and very quick. The Xbox One OS also gives you the opportunity to name the drive, which I kept at the default "External" so you can tell internal storage from external storage. Another nice feature is that the Xbox One gives you the option to always install new content to the external drive until it is full. If you select this option, then anything that is installed from this point forward will be... 5/5 Bobby Graham - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A Nice Solution to the XBox One Storage Shortage.

NOTE: THIS REVIEW WILL COVER USE ON THE XBOX ONE ONLY.As X1 owners will understand, the internal hard drive isn't anywhere large enough to hold many games, now hitting the 30GB range. Just by installing 3 games, over 30% of my space was used. Not good, so an alternative was necessary.I chose the My Book line over the My Passport because I wanted the unit to stand as it's shown in the picture, which is necessary due to my setup. The My Book stands about 2x higher than the console vertically, but can also be laid atop horizontally, if one chooses. The unit requires additional power, so be prepared to find another outlet. The built-in transformer makes for a larger plug, so if you intend to plug into a surge protector, you will need to be aware this may not fit among other plugs due to its size.I've only had this unit for about 2 days, but so far, it's working perfectly. For XBox One owners, here's some basic information:... 5/5 Online Shopper - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Another solid WD product

I purchased this drive largely based upon a specific need for a USB 3.0 product with 4TB of storage. I've owned many WD internal and external HD products over time and have not had any drive failures to date over many years. I purchased this drive specifically as a backup storage drive attached to a Synology 1813+ NAS unit. This required a reformat to EXT4 as the drive comes natively formated in NTFS. The Synology NAS schedules backup to this drive of selected folder shares using the "Time Backup" software available from Synology. I'm not utilizing any of the software included from WD with this drive (backup, cloud, etc.) as the Synology NAS has its own software for each of these purposes. The drive itself is similar in size to other My Book drives. The plastic casing is certainly not as nice as the aluminum finish on the WD My Book drives that I have for my Macs, but it is similar to the black of the Synology unit and overall looks good.
