About this book
IDC recently confirmed that over 3 million people are currently using Crystal Reports. Crystal Reports is bundled in over 160 products, including those from Microsoft, Oracle, Netscape, and PeopleSoft. Although Crystal Reports is licensed by several more vendors, these vendors do not supply any books or information on using Crystal Reports. Only one other book on the market today explains Crystal Reports, but it is outdated and does not cover any of the new features and components of Crystal Rreports 6.0. This leaves users with a great need for this book to maximize the power of report generation. This book is essential to developing powerful reports and optimizing businesses. Reporting counts for 40-60% of a business's daily operation, yet it is the area that is least looked at to enhance. This book is a must for users who want to push the limits and design their own reports and for developers who want to allow the end user the flexibility of customizing these reports at run time.

Working, but beware of bad sectors; always keep backups!

I received this drive 8 months ago and it is still working in an acceptable manner by my standards. For more details, please continue reading.Having recently re-browsed the Amazon reviews for this product, I saw some people complaining that their drive had failed after x months having ordered it around the same time as me. This prompted me to fully check my drive's health so that I could at least be reassured that it is in full working order for the time being. I ran a read test on Windows using HD Tune Pro since that's where my drive was plugged in at the time, and the results (shown in as screenshots attached to this review) show the drive did in fact contain some bad sectors.I ran a non-destructive write test using badblocks on Linux which, for each sector, will first read the sector and store it in memory, then write a random pattern, then read this pattern back and make sure it matches the pattern that was written, and finally restore the original contents... 4/5 Milos Ivanovic (Auckland, New Zealand) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Died during backup after less than 2 hours.

I was pleased to initially get this backup HDD, it is small, portable, clean design, with a nice black color. It was packed in an easy to open and protective box and the basic instructions were simple and clear, plug the HDD into your computer with the accompanying cord and download the Seagate Dashboard application to begin backing up. I did just that, and initially seemed to be up to a great start. The Dashboard app isn't fancy, but appeared to be sufficient to get the job done. However, fast forward about 2 hours to ~80% backed up, and the HDD starts to occasionally beep. I was not aware the drive had any speakers so inititally I figured I had heard something outside my house. Gradually over the next 10 minutes the beeping became more and more frequent until it was obvious they were coming from the drive and were coming out about every second. I also noticed at this point the drive was no longer backing up. Thinking something was amiss, I unplugged the drive, restarted... 1/5 Amazon Addict (USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) very fast drive with huge 4TB capacity

My review is for the 4TB "Fast" RAID 0 version of this drive. This Seagate drive is a phenomenal backup drive. It really is FAST! It's so fast because internally it's composed of two hard drives running in parallel in a RAID 0 configuration to give twice the throughput. It comes formatted in NTFS. Mac users who want to keep using it with NTFS will need to go to Seagate's website to download an NTFS-for-Mac program by Paragon to be able to write to this drive. It's a free program on the Seagate site. Alternatively, Mac users could format the drive to Mac's native "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" file format (also known as HFS+ format). If you want to share this HFS+ formatted drive with a PC, you can install an HFS-for-Win program on your PC to enable read/write capability on Mac drives. This HFS-for-Win program is also available for free on the Seagate support site. There are definite advantages of NTFS over HFS+. NTFS gives slightly higher... 5/5 StevieQ (Castro Valley, CA United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 5/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Seagate Expansion 2TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 (STEA2000400) (Personal Computers) I bought the 2TB version and it does work with the PS4 (current version 4.50). At first it said it didn't support it but after I restarted my PS4 it worked. Currently works as intended. There's 1.84TB usable after formatting. It took 19 minutes to transfer 3 games (118.3 GB) over from the internal hard drive to this external hard drive. Will update if anything arises., March 10, 2017

Good choice, but there are better alternatives. DETAILED info for Wii U, PS4, XBOX owners!!

I've often complained about Amazon rating system for tech products and external USB hard drives are great example of the problem. Simply, it's saturated market with lots of viable options, while impact of "picking wrong" is quite profound. You can wake up one day and find out that your data is gone. Reviews here don't help much: you read 1 star review saying "drive arrived dead", then you have 5 star review saying "drive is great". Which one to trust? Especially since I would prefer "dead on arrival" HDD to one that dies after 1 year of working. In my case - now that Nintendo Switch is coming - I wanted to download all digitally purchased games I have for Wii U and store them along with save games on one drive. Testing tech components is a hobby of mine and I've decided to go all in - purchasing 3 external HDD drives so I can test how they work and pick the best one. Plusses and minuses of SMR drives

The Backup Plus Hub series appears to consist of SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) drives. We know the 8 TB version is SMR because another reviewer (Pacific coast) opened it up (voiding his warranty) and found a Seagate Archive drive, which is SMR. I asked Seagate if the 6 TB version I got is an SMR drive, and they said "Unfortunately, we do not have this information available." Ha ha! Their reticence is understandable, the more common PMR (Perpendicular Magnetic Recording) technology is generally preferred. The prices of these Backup Plus Hub drives are less than Seagate's bare PMR drives of equal capacity, which also supports the idea that the Backup Plus Hub series is SMR.SMR technology allows more physical bits of memory in the same space without decreasing the size of the bits.Advantages of SMR-- Fast burst sequential writes are possible due to higher density and allied technology.-- Larger drive capacities in same-size... 4/5 Sanpete (in Utah) - See all my reviews This review is from: Seagate Backup Plus Hub 6TB External Desktop Hard Drive Storage STEL6000100 (Personal Computers) Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?) UPDATE-2: Synology (maker of my NAS) recently released a major OS update (completely changing file system). After that; below mentioned cyclic head seeking annoyance of the drives stopped. Working very well so far

Honestly, I was a bit nervous to buy this product. Some of the reviews on other Seagate external hard drives (at least among the 6/8 TB size) left me a bit wary, and leaning towards WD.I needed more space though, and already had several other external hard drives hooked up. I had already had to resort to a separate USB hub for two of them, but that just made handling cabling even worse. My hope was that with this new external, I'd not only have plenty more space, but could potentially get rid of the hub and neaten the cabling situation.Although the description listed the ports as USB 3, I was slightly alarmed upon opening the package, and seeing black USB ports (which much more often signify USB 2, as opposed to the blue color that more typically comes with USB 3 ports/connectors). I fired up USBViewer and was relieved to find that they were reporting as USB 3 ports, and I also transferred some data to confirm that things were being transferred at USB 3 speeds... 4/5 javery - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
