Inside the Vault, The True Story of a Master Bank Burglar

Creator: Amil Dinsio | True Crime - 2013-11-06

This book tells the remarkable true story of that burglary, written by the real-life mastermind who planned it: Amil Dinsio, one of the most successful and prolific bank robbers and burglars of the 1960s and 70s.

About this book
Millions of dollars sat in a small, non-descript bank perched on a hill in the quiet town of Laguna Niguel in Orange County. But deep within its vaults was a secret: millions of dollars in illegally obtained funds belonging to none other than President Richard Nixon. Those stolen funds would not remain Nixon's for long. Over the weekend of March 24, 1972, a crew of bank burglars from Youngstown, Ohio orchestrated a burglary of the vault, which would eventually result in a score of over twelve million dollars - the biggest bank vault burglary in U.S. history. This book tells the remarkable true story of that burglary, written by the real-life mastermind who planned it: Amil Dinsio, one of the most successful and prolific bank robbers and burglars of the 1960s and 70s. Dinsio reveals not only the technical details on how the crime was committed, but also how the perfect burglary was undone by the FBI's dirty tricks.

Flawless drive for backing up boot drive and restoring my laptop to factory

5/5 Andre L. Bell (Santa Maria, CA USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: WD 500GB Black My Passport Ultra Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 - WDBWWM5000ABK-NESN [Old Model] (Personal Computers) I used this to backup my laptop before restoring to factory and then upgrading again to Windows 10. No data loss. Quiet drive. I did not use the internal software. I've never trusted proprietary backup methods. Years of failures of unretrievable data from using proprietary methods in the past has made me a bit gun shy. So my review does not include a rating of the software. My review is for the hardware itself. Flawless backup of the laptop's boot drive. Flawless recovery of the data I've tested so far. Failed to recognize

I am deployed overseas in the field and it takes about two weeks to get anything shipped from Amazon. So you can imagine my utter disappointment to find out that this product failed in less than a year of receipt. The hard drive worked fine; I purchased it to keep all of my personal files, photos, iTunes purchases, etc.I own two computers; one desktop Intel Dual Core i7 and a HP laptop i5, both running on Windows 7.My work computer is also an HP laptop i5.One day I roll into the office, as usual, and hook up my drive to my personal laptop.I see the light on the drive on steady, but the drive is not recognized.I hook it up to my work laptop to see if it works on that and it was recognized.I later took it home to try it on my home desktop; not recognized. And yes, I've tried contacting tech support (and got a big fat phone bill) and they were of no help.Spent a week researching on Google and all the various forums, but nothing... 1/5 Jae Hyun Park - See all my reviews, February 28, 2012

Fatal Flaw Can Cost You Your Data or a Ton of Cash

Don't buy this USB hard drive. It has a fatal flaw that can cost you all your data or thousands of dollars. Here's why:If you buy a bare 2.5 inch SATA hard drive and an empty USB case for it, it is trivial to replace the case if it is damaged or if the USB connector gets damaged - just buy another case, pop your hard drive in, and viola, you're in business. You'd think you'd be able to do this with this WD drive, but that's not the case (pun intended). This drive has the USB port soldered onto the hard drive controller, so if the port is damaged (easy to do if you accidentally yank the cord), you can't pop the drive out and put it in another case. You have to send the drive to a professional repair house at cost of thousand dollars or more....I've had this happen to two of my customers and I simply will not buy Western Digital USB drives anymore. As a matter of fact, I insist on "building my own" by purchasing empty cases and bare... 1/5 Sourcehound (Chicago) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A handy companion for any computer technician!

My primary line of work is as a self-employed PC tech and this little 500 gig drive has been the most reliable piece of equipment I've owned in the last 5 years. Great for constantly backing up customer hard drives before modifying them, backing up my hard drives routinely and loading it up with all the computer tech apps I can find for a "jack of all trades" sort of portable drive. It's got enough space for it all. My only regret is that I didn't buy the 1 tb version. For the non-techies, 500 gb will be more than enough for your music, videos, docs, pics, etc. For techies, I'd recommend grabbing the 1 tb version of this drive. Very sleek and fits in your pocket quite easily. A lot of the other portable USB hard drives haven't quite gotten the concept that not everyone wants a brick-sized version to "carry around" :)Other than that, durability has been solid. Haven't had to replace the hard drive and I've managed to drop it only once, which I'm sure has contributed to its... 5/5 Travis Stein (Houston, TX (USA)) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) What a nice drive!!

Okay, despite of all the negative reviews I have seen for this portable drive, I would say there is a doubtabout them. This is the Second drive "My Passport Essential 500GB" I get, the first was Black midnight color, the second wasthe Amazon Exclusive Robot Design. Both comes already NTFS formatted with 465GB ready to use. you could format itto other File Systems if you like to make it work for MacOS X or Linux. The Black one had the Virtual CD that keeps nagging me. And popping up every time you hook up the usb with yourcomputer which can disabled by updating the firmware from Western Digital website. but you can not delete it,nevertheless it's not taking any space from the drive itself. The Robot Design one, on the contrary, doesn't have the Virtual CD installed, and the first time you plug it inyou could see Western Digital SmartWare backup solution on the drive itself, which you can easily delete.One... 5/5 Rebel_X - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great External Hard Drive.!

5/5 Allan - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: WD My Passport Essential 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive (Personal Computers) I bought the Limited Edition Robot Design before to read any review here. After I bought it, I felt very frustrated because of the virtual cd and the firmware update and all that bad reviews....I received it and plugged it, and it was like a miracle! it did not request to install anything, It does not come with any virtual cd or anything like that. It works perfectly.!The unit has a separate folder where you can find the WD SmartWare software, and you install it just if you want to use it as auto backup drive, but what I needed was extra storage only, and it works perfectly.!! The same way any other external hard drive.I write this review just those who have doubts about buying this unit because of the other reviews.. I want to let you know that if you buy the Limited Edition Robot Design, you will not have to deal with any firmware update nor anything like that.I hightly recommend this product. great little hard drive

I love this thing. Replacing a bulky old external USB hard drive that required external power. This one is twice the capacity and 20% of the size, super quiet, and it's the cheapest 500GB hard drive on Amazon at the moment. Everyone is complaining about the back-up software. I have done nothing special to this drive and that condition doesn't exist for me. Maybe they stopped auto installing it on newer versions. I plugged it into my Windows XP machine and it installed as a regular drive. I'm able to drag and drop documents, create folders, etc with no issues. I do see some extra folders that came with it like WD SmartWare, User Manuals, and Extras - but that doesn't bother me as it seems common practice to bundle a few apps on hard drives and USB memory sticks. I bought this thing expecting to spend an hour updating the firmware, but it doesn't seem like I need to. I went with this model knowing that it had low reviews for that sole reason and I really don't mind saving... 5/5 swzine - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
