About this book
"Part Kurt Vonnegut, part Douglas Adams, but let's be honest, Matheson had me at 'Based on the Bible.'" —Dana Gould, comedian and writer The Bible offers some clues to God's personality—he's alternately been called vindictive and just, bloodthirsty and caring, all-powerful and impotent, capricious and foresighted, and loving and hateful. But no one has ever fully explored why God might be such a figure of contrasts. Nor has anyone ever satisfactorily explained what guides his relationship not just with angels, the devil, and his son, but also with all of creation. Might he be completely misunderstood, a mystery even to himself? Might his behavior and actions toward humankind tell us much more about him than it does about us? Enter the mind of the creator of the universe, travel with him through the heavenly highs and hellish lows of his story, from Genesis to Revelation, to better understand his burdensome journey: being God isn't easy. After hearing his story—at times troubling and tragic but always hilarious in its absurdity and divine in its comedy—you'll never look at a miracle or catastrophe—or at our place in the universe, or God's—the same way again.

This review is from: Toshiba Canvio for Desktop 5TB External Hard Drive (HDWC350XK3J1) (Personal Computers) So far so good no problems or issues. I have this connected to Windows 10 and all of a sudden the 777GB of files appeared to be gone on this drive. I think it was a windows 10 issue...manager showed that there were 777 GB used on the drive...I wound up restoring to a different time and the files came back whew.. Loved it!

5/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Toshiba Canvio for Desktop 3TB External Hard Drive (HDWC330XK3J1) (Personal Computers) I bought a 5TB last year for my boyfriend and he loves it. He is still using it to this day. So I figured I'd buy a 3TB for myself from the same sellers.Packaging: Its very carfully packaged. There is lots of airfilled plastic to protect the electronic within the product package itself. More plastic was added to the shipping box to avoid any sliding around.Product is easy to set up. We use ours as extra storage space for our Xbox one consoles. Although there is only directions for computer set up in the prompts on Xbox make it very simple to set up within minutes. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and my past purchase. Very good price for a high quality product. This hard drive is "head and shoulders" above any of the Western Digital junk drives. I wanted an externally powered (non-usb) external hard drive and this one was just right. Well done Toshiba! Excellent 1TB drive, USB 3.0 speed, uses USB 3.0 cable. But you can also use a USB 2.0 cable just so you know

1TB, lightweight, I velcro this to the cover of my Macbook Pro when traveling. I partition it to be 500GB to be used as Time Machine to backup the internal/startup drive, and use the 2nd partition of 500GB to be additional data... which these days is all above video, TV shows, etc. Works perfectly. The USB cable is just the right length -- which is short, prob 15" total. It's also a USB 3 drive, which means if you have a computer or laptop that has USB 3 ports, then the transfer speed is super fast -- especially for a bunch of large 2GB or larger video files. One thing to understand, which a lot of people don't know, because the industry doesn't explain this:The USB 3.0 port, and it's cable end, are very different from regular USB ports you have been used to. So the USB port on this drive looks different from the Mini USB or Micro USB port you are probably used to from previous portable hard drives. It's done that way in part to identify it as a high speed... 5/5 Bayarea Shopper - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Be advised: These reviews are for multiple Canvio Connect models, not just the 1TB model.

Buying a hard drive can be a crap shoot. All hard drives fail in time. The trick is to try and find one with the best track record.I needed a 1TB portable to simply drag and drop music, pics, vids and documents to so I could free up some space on my laptop. I had been trying to decide between a WD and a Seagate for about a week. I read numerous reviews online complaining about some issues with both. I decided against the WD drive because of all the complaints about being locked into using their loaded software, faulty cables, and poor customer service and 1 year warranty. The Seagate Backup Plus 1 TB had some complaints about suddenly not being recognized by windows after dismounting and remounting so I started looking at the Canvio Connect. If you read the reviews it's obvious that the Canvio has some complaints as well, but since it was on sale locally for less than I could buy it from Amazon I grabbed one. So far so good. I've had the 1TB Canvio Connect plugged... 4/5 Terrapin88 (Northeast USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: (Old Model) Toshiba Canvio Connect 1TB Portable Hard Drive, Black (HDTC710XK3A1) (Personal Computers) Buying a hard drive can be a crap shoot. Best External USB 2.0/3.0 drive on the market!

Toshiba is not always my favorite brand for anything. I consider them mediocre. However, when it comes to the external Canvio series, my first hand experience caused me to take a closer look at this device. For starters, I have worked with and owned many brands of external drives, including self-install models. Technically, my self install models house 7,200 rpm hard drives from top brand OEMs. And for this reason, those units should transfer data faster than the 5,200 rpm Canvio...... However, this was NOT the case. Not only were the Canvio series units faster than anything I have ever used in this category, the independent online reviews that compared the different manufacturers confirmed my findings. At the time of this review, I own three of these drives and I will be buying more in the future. For newbies; understand that three factors determine the speed of your data transfer: 1- the hard drive spin speed... 2 - the USB type at both ends.. 3 - the quality of the unit's... 5/5 MalwareZero(.)com (Fort Lauderdale) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 2/5 Jonathan - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Toshiba Canvio AeroCast 1TB Wireless Hard Drive (HDTU110XKWC1) (Personal Computers) These ship with an old 2013 version of the driver that you can't update or install so it's basically incompatible. In theory you can go to the Tuxera site to download an updated version however it costs money for a product key. You'd think Toshiba would provide you with a product key but they don't. So your options are either buy the product key or not buy this drive all together.I have a 15 day Tuxera trial for now just so I could try out the drives features. I wish I could modify the drive to my own preferences but folder structure is already set for you pretty much. Also the SD card transfer speed is pretty slow. I think I'm gonna return this. 4/5 Amazon Customer (Dallas) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Toshiba Canvio AeroCast 1TB Wireless Hard Drive (HDTU110XKWC1) (Personal Computers) All you have to do is search Google for "How To Update Tuxera NTFS For MAC OS X El Capitan or Sierra" - it should take you to Toshiba's support site from where you can download an updated driver (I would love to post the link here but Amazon does not allow third party links in reviews).I do not understand why they have to use the proprietary NTFS but at least they provide an updated driver (for now).I also strongly recommend that you change the default network name (SSID) and default wifi password of the disk drive - you can find the instructions how to do that in the user manual (search Google for "GMAA00500010_Canvio-AeroCast.pdf" and you will find it). High Quality Portable Hard Drive

Took a dive and ordered this hard drive right after it was released. I'm very glad I did.PROS:The hard drive itself is constructed very well; it has a very sturdy feeling metal casing that looks very high quality. It is very slim and small in dimensions, roughly the size of a modern smartphone. It also has a neat LED feature that is blue when connected to USB 3.0 ports, and white when connected to USB 2.0 ports. The device draws power from your USB port, so no external power supply is needed. Toshiba also includes a micro USB 3.0 to USB 3.0 cable, so you can immediately plug and play at the high speeds USB 3.0 has to offer.Transfer rates with this device are very quick. I'm seeing write speeds of around 120 MB/sec for copy/paste folder backup. I also did a full system backup (about 165GB) in about 25 minutes. This device also comes with this cool software called pogoplug. Excellent value for a great drive, plus some notes on drive failure.

These drives are great, solely because they carry a 3-yr warranty. They work fine on PC/Mac (providing you partition them as needed), have decent power requirements (so they work off a regular USB port) and thanks to the density, rotational speed and (if available on your computer) USB3 connectivity they are surprisingly fast (70+MB/s). We have 30+ drives like these at the office, and they fail at the usual rate of external hard drives, no different than any other brand. However, I keep coming back to these because of the 3-yr warranty, which doesn't mean they won't fail, but rather that they will get replaced for free when they do.One last word on hard drives:I've seen reviews on these and other drives speaking to their reliability...they really all are very similar. Magnetic hard drives WILL fail eventually. Great product! Very slim, discrete, and clean setup.

4/5 Drewford - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Toshiba Canvio Slim II 500GB Portable External Hard Drive, Black (HDTD205XK3D1) (Personal Computers) This HDD is absolutely fantastic. Works great, is very quiet and discrete, and the slim design of it is outstanding. The HDD is powered directly by the current that is output through the USB port on your PC, laptop, or gaming console, and therefore does not require an external power source. This makes for a much more streamlined and clean setup. I really love it.I did subtract one star because it is not clear that only the latest USB 3.0 ports are capable of fully powering this HDD. If you want to run this HDD on an older device that has USB 2.0 ports, you may need to buy a Y-cable so that you can harness the power of two ports to run this device. If the HDD packaging or description would have clarified this better, I would have given 5 stars. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 4, 2016

To save you the trouble, here's what I did:1) Out of the box, the adapter did not work with my drive. It powered on, and created a WiFi zone, but did not see the drive. Turns out the drive MUST be formatted as an NTFS drive. No Mac-formatted drive will be seen by the adapter. So, Mac users, format the drive as NTFS. Didn't want or need a new Wifi-enabled drive, and saw this as a perfect alternative. The Quick Start documentation that comes with the drive is not accurate - ignore it and go straight to the Toshiba support site at [...]Two issues popped up, which required some sleuthing to figure out but eventually I did after going to the support site to download the actual product manual. If you need assistance and have a Seagate drive, there is a free NTFS formatter utility on the Seagate support site that will allow you... Excellent small gadget with poor product user manual

I bought this Toshiba device for my existing USB HDD (Toshiba and WD) and other USB flash drive, after hours to play, I found this small gadget is powerful than my expectation! I also notes that quite a few negative reviews here, since most of them complain on the poor product user manual, I have the same feeling, this excellent gadget is degraded by Toshiba's poor product user manual! so I feel 4 star is reasonable for me on this product. Here is my experience on this product, good or bad:Setup1. the apps Pls search "Wireless Adapter for Toshiba" in Apps Store, you will find out an apps by "Fujian Star-net eVideo Information Systems Co,. Ltd", NOT TOSHIBA!, this is weird, but this is the official apps provided for this device.2. USB cable between USB HDD and Toshiba device Pls use the short USB cable (30cm or less) to connect USB HDD and Toshiba device, if this cable is longer, then Toshiba device may not power on... 4/5 Yoyo Tsui - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Amazing !!

Make sure to follow my steps to get the best out of this amazing product. Now I have to admit it was a bit frustrating at first till I got the hang of it.1- Power up the adapter and connect an empty drive or USB stick, the smaller the better.2- Update the firmware to its latest version (2.0.5) through Toshiba's Wireless Adapter Application. (Restart the adapter and update if failure occurs)3- Make sure to set everything like the wireless name and password.4- Restart your adapter from within the application !!!!4- Connect your drive and stream anything you want.5- You can integrate other media players like VLC, all you have to do is play the file and you'll get a black bar at the top with the word Opening... Click on the word and you'll be prompted to select your default application.I streamed everything from low quality mp4 files to MKV Bluray rips, everything worked perfectly. You can even upload and download files from... 5/5 msaridar (Beirut - Lebanon) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Runs cool and transfers data quickly.

I have owned this drive for 1 week. I am impressed with how cool it runs; it does not get hot like my older 2010 model external hdds. I am also impressed with how lightweight it is, and I also like the shape of it and that it is pretty small. It's also nice that it is plug and play and does not require a separate power source. I glanced at the NTI backup software and the PogoPlay cloud data access software but did not use it yet since Windows backup handles my backup needs and plugging the drive into the usb port on my router handles my cloud data access needs. To note, the user interface of the NTI backup software is nice looking and easy to use. When I used the drive to take a system image of my mom's new laptop, the data transfer rate was averaging ~110MBps since her laptop has usb 3.0 capability. At home I only have usb 2.0 so my speeds are just ~10MBps which is to be expected. The light on it is white and blinks during data transfer, but it is not intrusive or anoying at... 5/5 Adrenaline - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A very happy Mac user

I'm a Mac user. I'm by no means a tech savvy person but I can manage pretty well. Thanks to the reviews here, I knew I had to do something to make sure the disk worked properly on my Mac. If you're so inclined, you can simply connect the drive to your Mac, find the Mac folder in it, follow the instructions, and install the little application that comes with the disk. One of the reviewers mentioned simply using Disk Utility to format the drive and that's what I did:1) connect the drive using the USB 3.0 cable included in the package;2) open up Disk Utility app on the Mac (use Spotlight if you don't know where to find it or even what it is);3) select the mounted partition of the drive (this is a jargon you don't need to understand, just select the nested TOSHIBAEXT under the external drive listing on the left);4) Go to Erase, select the "Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled)" format in the dropdown, then click "Erase". I ejected... 5/5 JK - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Average 2.5" 5400RPM USB 3.0 drive, Nice form factor. Expect a lot of service from this device. Good price point.

4/5 K.M. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Toshiba Canvio Connect II 1TB Portable Hard Drive, Silver (HDTC810XC3A1) (Personal Computers) Solid drive, nice form factor. This is the updated version of the Toshiba Canvio Connect. I dont use any of the cloud features or anything like that. I use these to carry stuff from here to there or to move files from this device to another when its just not practical to do it any other way. And my old 500GB drive was getting a bit long in the tooth plus a little bit too small. Its your standard 2.5" 5400RPM with a 8MB cache and S.M.A.R.T. capability. Nothing to write home about. But toshiba tends to make pretty good quality consumer drives.Drive performance is what you would expect. I used crystaldiskmark. I also used crystaldiskinfo for the technical spec's. They definitely did some QC on the drive as it was started 5 times before they sent it out. So all good there. I expect to get a lot of years of use out of this drive and will update this review if I dont., February 21, 2015
