Great Shared Storage Drive For Mac & PC, Improved Internet Speed

In my household we have a MacBook Air, 2 PC's, 2 iPhones, and an iPad. For a long time I've wanted a shared storage drive that would always be on so all my computers and iOS devices could access it wirelessly at any time. The new Apple Time Capsule has finally given me that. In addition, the wireless internet speed of my network is 50% faster.NETWORK SET UPSetting up the Time Capsule for the internet was extremely easy. My iPad immediately recognized the Time Capsule after I connected it to the modem and plugged it in. On the iPad I created the network name and password. I also created a guest network name and password. The Time Capsule updated this and I was up and running. From pulling it out of the box to surfing the internet was less than 5 minutes.INTERNET SPEED TESTAfter I connected all my computers and iOS devices to the new network I did a speed test with the app Speedtest.net on my iPhone. I had an inexpensive Belkin wireless N router... 5/5 JJG - See all my reviews This review is from: Apple Time Capsule 2TB ME177LL/A [5th Generation] (Personal Computers) In my household we have a MacBook Air, 2 PC's, 2 iPhones, and an iPad. Team Apple FTW!

I bought this with my new ARRIS SB6183 cable modem and I am so happy with my purchase. My wireless speeds have been consistently above average - my initial Time Capsule backup was totally wireless and knocked it out in less that 8 hours compared to an entire day with my old external connected via USB.. With my old external, I had to do my backups manually.. Now, I'm getting a full-service backup when I don't even know it. When I'm ready to backup my backup, I can manually backup the external I have.I am completely satisfied with my purchase.. Worked as expected and did not mess up my network

5/5 Richard Hanson (California, USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Apple Time Capsule 3TB ME182LL/A [NEWEST VERSION] (Personal Computers) Worked as expected and is still working. It arrived with bridge-mode on (i.e., network hub/wi-fi turned off) which is good. Over five ago I bought a much older model which immediately become a hub and fought with my other hub for control of my network devices. Took me a while before I understood what was going on. I bought this one because the other one's hard drive, I think, is getting flaky (having to turn it off and back on to get it to connect). Product Warranty Problems

Beware of the advertised warranty on these! Although the product description states "This Certified Refurbished product is manufacturer refurbished, shows limited or no wear, and includes all original accessories plus a ONE YEAR warranty" Apple will not honor that warranty coverage. I tried to register one of these with Apple and they told me that I needed the original purchase date that Apple sold the refurbished item, not the date that it was sold this to me. So, I now have had to contact the third-party seller to see if they can find the original date of purchase from Apple. Apple can/will not provide me with that information. Even if I manage to find this date, be assured it will be less than the one year that is advertised. So, the bottom line is that unless I can provide this information to Apple, this product has NO WARRANTY from Apple and cannot be added to your Apple account. Additionally, refurbished items are not covered by AppleCare if you have it on a macbook or... 1/5 D. Wilbur - See all my reviews, November 28, 2015

Amazingly simple to set up (and I'm big time technologically challenged!)

I was very nervous about setting this up, didn't want to have to spend hours on the phone with Apple Care, tech setups like this scare the big jeez outta me. But I had switch to this device because the NetGear router we had was not enough to carry the signal through the house. So I bought the Time Capsule to work as the router as well as a backup disc, along with two Airport Express stations to serve as network extenders to enhance the wi-fi signal in the house. From the time I opened the box to the time I had all three devices fully operational was probably 20 minutes! The set up couldn't have been simpler! If you are in the same shoes I was when considering this device, here's a quick summary of steps:1. Connect Time Capsule to ethernet cable coming from your cable or DSL box2. Connect printer or other USB device using USB jack3. Connect any other ethernet device that requires a hardwire (I had to connect my Vonage router and AT&T MicroCell)... 5/5 🎭 FreeSpirit - See all my reviews, October 26, 2012

Using with PCs (XP & 7)

UPDATE: Apple updated the firmware, and now, windows access is even easier! The Airport Utility allows you to link the Time Capsule to a windows workgroup name. Clearly, now, Apple is the absolute best network server available.(Amazon, on the other hand, has made updating reviews tedious.)I have an OLD (2004) SimpleShare file server... works fine for 160MB, but it is small and old. Time for an upgrade.A year or 2 ago, I attempted this with an IOmega Media server. It was junk. I salvaged the hard drive and the rest wasn't worth keeping. Very poor support. Unfortunately, the reviews of the WD systems here on Amazon indicate similar problems, slowness of transfers and what not.The reviews of the Time Capsule were glowing... and, several people indicated that it plays nicely with XP and Win7. I decided it was the best option, so it arrived in a couple days.Currently, it is in a minimalist configuration. I did not need the... 5/5 Donald W. I doubt that I'll ever go back to Windows again (other than the machine that I use at work). This is something that I've wanted to do for a while but I didn't want to take the time to learn it. The BEST All-In-One-Desktop... EVER... Just make sure you get the right configuration.

To put it simply, the iMac with Retina 5K Display is nothing short of spectacular. At this moment, there is no computer in the world like it.First of all, look at the price. High quality 4K monitors can cost between $1000 and $2000 or more, just for the monitor. Apple reminds me of Spinal Tap... This one goes to 5K. 5K may not sound like much more than 4K, but the difference is actually an increase of over 67% more pixels. We're talking about a screen that can show a 14.7 Megapixel photo, without zooming. That's simply amazing. When I first saw the Apple event where they announced this, my first thought was, if they are jamming that many pixels into this, they are going to need a super fast graphics card, because playback and editing in 4K requires 4 times more bandwidth than 1080p, much less 5K. So, I was skeptical. I went to the Apple store and they had a lot of 4K footage loaded into Final Cut Pro X. I was able to skim around, make edits and playback... 5/5 Joe Crescenzi (Staten Island, NY USA) - See all my reviews, November 4, 2014

The first value oriented device by Apple

DISCLOSUREI bought this using my student discount so I did it via the Apple website instead. The student discount brought it to $2299.I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE IT'S RELATIVELY CHEAP? REALLY?The iMac 5k is probably the only "value" oriented device Apple makes. It's ironic because it's the most expensive iMac. Let's put it this way, the 5k screen itself is sold for $2.5k by Dell(not available until Dec). I don't know yet if it's the same panel as Dell but Dell have historically used the same panels as Apple before with the previous 1440p thunderbolt display. For a more mainstream comparison, the new LG 4k IPS monitor is a very good monitor. The price tag is $1399. However, I doubt it would have the same contrast and accurate color reproduction as this iMac. The reality is that any decent IPS 4k or 5k screen is going to cost you a fortune regardless of brand. What Apple essentially gave you is the first professional 5K screen and a free... 5/5 3D - See all my reviews This review is from: Apple iMac with Retina 5K display (OLDEST VERSION) (Discontinued by Manufacturer) (Personal Computers) DISCLOSUREI bought this using my student discount so I did it via the Apple website instead.
